How to Connect with God

1st in series, Fourth & Goal

Take the Next Step

A GamePlan for Action

1. How much value do you place on God?  If God could be measured in currency, how much would He be worth to you?

2. Is it wrong to pray for yourself?  Is it wrong to only pray for yourself?

3. Here is a practical way to pray for the unreached people groups of the world.  Go to the following website: http://operationworld.org/.  Here you will find information on the unreached people groups of the world.  You’ll even find a link where you can pray for a different nation each day.

Today’s nation to pray for is Peru.

4. Why is it important to “hallow” the name of God?  Why is it important for others to honor His name?

5. What new insight did you gain today about prayer?

“what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him?”

Psalm 8:4

Henceforth there is y‌laid up for me z‌the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, a‌the righteous judge, will award to me on b‌that Day, and not only to me but also to all c‌who have loved his appearing. “Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him.”

Proverbs 13:24

“Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives it far from him.”

Proverbs 22:15

Why Get Married?

“And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

7 “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. 9 Pray then like this:

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.11 Give us this day our daily bread,12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Matthew 6:1-15

1. A Prayer Centered on God’s Name.

2. What Does Hallow Mean?

And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe in me, to uphold me as holy in the eyes of the people of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land that I have given them.”

Numbers 20:12

“But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, 15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect”

1 Peter 3:14-15

3. Is This Just a Prayer for Myself?

And they sang a new song, saying,

“Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation,10 and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.”

Revelation 5:9-10
