Why Hope?

3rd in series, Treasure Hunters

Take the Next Step

A GamePlan for Action

1. What brings you the most hope?

2. If you were being persecuted for your faith in Christ, what would bring you the greatest amount of hope?

3. How often do you think of the Jesus Christ returning?  Do you ever wake up in the morning and think, “This could be earth’s last day?”  Why or why not?

4. Why do you think people do not talk more about Christ’s return to earth?  Do you think if you talked about Christ’s return frequently with others, people would think you’re odd?  Perhaps crazy?

5. Are you prepared if Christ returns today?  Are your family and friends ready for His return?  What should you do to prepare for Christ’s return?

“Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

1 Peter 1:13

1. Hope Is Powerful.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

1 Peter 1:3-5

2. Hope Doesn’t Float, it’s Fixed.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…”

1 Peter 1:5

“Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, athe righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.”

“His delight is not in the strength of the horse,

nor his pleasure in the legs of a man,

11 but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him,

in those who ehope in his steadfast love.”

Psalm 147:10-11

3. Prepare Now

“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. 3 And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.”

1 John 3:1-3

“Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning, 36 and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the wedding feast, so that they may open the door to him at once when he comes and knocks.”

Luke 12:35-36
